Beyond the Cut-Off Mark
In 2026, 2.24 million candidates sat the UTME for roughly 700,000 university places, leaving more than 1.2 million qualified Nigerians locked out each year. This inaugural brief argues that the next test of the admissions system is fairness, and makes two recommendations to JAMB for the 2027 UTME: publish admissions data in forms that candidates and researchers can actually use, and close the digital equity gap before rolling out Bring Your Own Device testing.
